New Every Morning

How’s your Tuesday going, friend? Take an honest look at yesterday. Was it a good day, or was it one of those days where things didn’t quite go the way you wanted? Maybe you lost your temper. Maybe you put off something you should’ve done. Maybe you just felt like you fell short.

Here’s a beautiful truth straight out of God’s Word: yesterday doesn’t get the final say. Today is a brand-new day, and God gave you fresh mercies to go with it.

“It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.” — Lamentations 3:22-23 (KJV)

I love that verse, and I’ll tell you why. These words weren’t written by somebody having a great day. They were written by Jeremiah — a man who had watched his whole nation fall apart. Everything around him was rubble. And in the middle of the worst season of his life, he looked up and said: “God’s mercies are new every morning.”

Think about that for a second. New. Every. Morning. Not recycled. Not used up. Not running on fumes from yesterday. Fresh — like manna in the wilderness, like a sunrise breaking over the pines after a long night.

God doesn’t wake up this morning and look at your yesterday and say, “Well, you blew it, so I’m out.” No, friend. His compassions FAIL NOT. That means His care for you doesn’t have an expiration date and it doesn’t have a limit. You can’t wear it out. I’d call that a gift from God, wouldn’t you?

And look at the last part of that verse: “great is thy FAITHFULNESS.” Not great is thy feelings. Not great is thy circumstances. Great is thy faithfulness — who He IS. God’s faithfulness isn’t based on how your Tuesday goes. Your Tuesday is based on His faithfulness.

So here’s what I want you to do with this. Before you get too far into today, take a deep breath and leave yesterday where it belongs — behind you. Whatever didn’t go right, whatever you wish you’d done different, God’s got you covered with a fresh batch of mercy this morning. Now isn’t that exciting?

Yesterday’s failures aren’t today’s forecast. God’s got new mercies with your name on them, delivered fresh this morning, faithful as ever. Doesn’t that make you feel great?

Father, thank You for fresh mercies this Tuesday morning. Thank You that yesterday’s failures don’t get to define today, because Your compassions never fail. Fill me up with Your faithfulness today, and help me walk in the newness You’ve given me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
